Grid-Tied Solar Power Solution


Grid-Tied Systems also known as On Grid or Grid Direct Solar Power

Solar PV (photovoltaic) roof-top or ground mount, Grid-Tied systems are the most installed solaution of the solar PV installations around the world 90% of all Solar systems are grid-tied. There are no batteries so there is no storage of energy.

Grid-tied systems are connected to the Eskom Eltectrcial grid. Electricity produced during the daytime either used in the building or directed back into the Eskom grid, this puts your eletricil bill into credit.

Grid-Interactive Solar Power Solution


Grid-Interactive Systems also known as Hybrid Solar Systems

Grid-interactive Solar Power systems give the consumer great flexibility, while increasing the reliability of the power solution.

A Grid-interactive system is a Hybrid of a Grid-tied Solar Solution with battery storage and a grid-tied system which uses Eskom as backup and/or pushes excess energy into the grid via Nett-Metering).

The battery Storage is normally smaller than what is needed in an comnplete off grid Solution; sized to accomodate only the essential electrical need during a power failure, with Eskom as a backup for overcast days.

Grid interactive Solar Solutions are more cost effective than off-grid soltions and these systems are upgradeable and can be increased in capacity size as you want. These PhotoVoltaic Systems are a medium to long term investments, as they fix the electricity costs for years to come.

Off-Grid Solar Systems


Off-Grid Solar Systems / battery back-up system

A solar system that is not connected to Eskom power is called an Off-Grid Solar System.

The grid is not available and therefore the photoVoltaic system specification is critical.

An Off-grid system needs a backup energy source example a Generator, This would be used during bad weather or when the irradiance level from the sun is too low to supply the charge needed.

  • Charge controllers (to protect the battery bank from overcharging)
